North Carolina has joined the growing list of states with legal sports betting as Gov Roy Cooper signed SB 154 into law.

The new law allows the Cherokee Indians to offer sports betting on site at their two Caesars-operated Harrah’s Cherokee casinos. It will also allow the tribe to offer simulcast betting on horse races.

Cooper has not yet signed SB 574, which would create a gaming commission to study statewide sports betting.

Meanwhile, Iowa could have legal sports betting and fantasy sports by noon on August 15, the Dubuque Telegraph Herald reported.

The Iowa Racing and Gaming Board will hold a special meeting tomorrow to formally adopt sports betting rules.

Casino Queen in Marquette is the only one of the state’s 19 casinos not to have applied for a license.
