GamCare is to shut down its Young People’s provision from October due to a “lack of sustainable funding.”

The gambling harm support provider has offered harm intervention programmes to children, young people, parents and professionals for more than five years.
However, such services will cease to be provided at the end of September.
GamCare said it will continue to run its Youth Advisory board “to ensure young people’s voices continue to inform our work.”
“GamCare remains committed to reducing gambling harm and none of our other services are affected by this change,” it added.
The shutting down of GamCare’s Young People’s provision comes shortly after the implementation of the statutory levy for gambling harm in the UK market.
The UK government is now working with the Gambling Commission to hand out support.
Many third-sector charities and organisations have criticised the structure of the levy.
