The family of the late Aharon Shaked, one of the founders of Israeli online gambling company 888, has sold half of its stake in the company.

The Shakeds sold their 40 million shares at £2.70 a share, procuring them £108m. They are left with a 12.9 per cent stake.

Two families founded 888 in 1997: Shay and Ron Ben-Yitzhak and brothers Avi and Aharon Shaked. Since then, the Ben-Yitzhak family sold its shares in stages, virtually liquidating its holdings in the company a year ago.

Aharon Shaked died in early 2010, leaving his assets to his widow, Haya, and his two children: his son, Ohad, and his daughter, Tal.
