The Philippines gaming industry will remain resilient to the current economic climate due to access and affordability, according to a local gaming firm.
"The online gaming industry is one of the most affordable modes of entertainment," said Gil Edeza, chief operating officer of IP E-Game Ventures. “Signing up for an online game is usually free and it may be played for as low as P20 (US$0.40) an hour in internet cafes.”
Product manager Ivee Feria added that the average revenue per user next year might drop amid trying economic times, but that this would likely be offset by a user’s tendency to subscribe to two or three games at any given time.
IP E-Game currently runs three casual games including NBA Online and also has six multiple online role-playing games and plans to launch two to three new titles next year in order to attract more subscribers.
