Malta’s new gambling regulations are to be implemented a month late, the Malta Gaming Authority has announced.

MGA

A Detailed Opinion from the European Commission, in addition to comments from the European Commission and a Member State, have led to the delay. The Detailed Opinion has extended the standstill period for implementation by a month to July 16, 2018, leading the MGA to move the start date back to August 1, 2018.

During the standstill period, the MGA stated: “Government and the MGA shall be reviewing and taking into account the recommendations made by the European Commission and the Member States.”
