Lawyer Regis Dudena has been appointed as the head of Brazil’s newly formed Secretariat of Prizes and Bets.

The body was formed to help oversee the country’s transition towards its new mobile sports betting and igaming regulation.

The latest update was published in an ordinance in Brazil’s Gazette of the Union and follows recent developments in the regulating market.

Towards the start of April, the Ministry of Finance initially announced the first regulatory timeline for Brazil’s sports betting market in the coming months, with ordinances to be published in waves.

After a number of updates in April, the developments will continue in May and June with the aim of having parts of the regulation finalised by the end of July.

Last week, an ordinance published by the Ministry of Finance revealed cryptocurrency and credit card use will be banned in Brazil’s sports betting market.
