A fresh set of Implementing Procedures Part II for the remote gaming sector has been published by the Malta Gaming Authority in conjunction with the Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit (FIAU).

MGA Malta

The revised version was needed to take into account amendments to the Prevention of Money Laundering and Funding of Terrorism Regulations and the Implementing Procedures Part I. It also reflects what the MGA calls "some of the realities that FIAU and MGA officers have been encountering in the course of supervisory activities."

The revised version offers further guidance on customer due diligence; clarifies the obligations when a customer is not prepared to give information as part of the due diligence; gives further detail on risk factors that should be taken into account; extends the licensees’ own obligations on money-laundering; provides targeted guidance on corporate licensees; and includes case studies.
