The Dutch Gambling Authority has enlisted further help from internet security solutions provider Cloudflare in tackling illegal gambling operators.

Kansspelautoriteit

The agreements mean the regulator, Kansspelautoriteit, can ask Cloudflare to provide more information on the hosting parties behind illegal gambling providers.

“The information provided by Cloudflare can therefore be useful for the KSA’s investigations, with the aim of putting an end to the illegal supply,” it said.

“Illegal providers and affiliates do everything they can to avoid sanctions. It is therefore often difficult to trace the owners and hosting parties of these websites.”

The new partnership comes after the KSA withdrew initial binding instructions on Cloudflare over claims it had facilitated illegal offers.

Cloudflare was initially told to stop providing services to two affiliates in the Netherlands, but the company noted it cannot itself take measures to stop a company’s activity – and can only provide technical data.

The KSA therefore agreed to put in place a working partnership with the company to tackle illegal operators.
