The French gambling regulator has removed 179 competitions from the collection of sports and tournaments players can bet on in the country.

L’Autorité Nationale des Jeux said Armenian football’s first division and the corresponding league in Tunisia have been removed from the Sports List.

The ANJ has updated the list every year since 2010 with the aim of preventing sports manipulation and maintaining sports betting integrity.

For betting on US sports, the ANJ said only the final tournament of Division 1 (March Madness) of the National College Athletic Association’s basketball championship has been authorised.

The regulator has also updated the markets players can bet on, with basketball regulations changing. Bettors can now place stakes on the number of points scored by a player. And in tennis, the ban on handicap betting has been removed.

The new Sports List will come into force on March 1.
