American film producer Bryan Zuriff has pleaded guilty to charges that he was involved in an illegal internet sports betting business.

Zuriff, who is executive producer of the hit TV series Ray Donovan, which is currently airing on Showtime in the US, pleaded guilty in federal court to accepting a financial instrument in connection with unlawful internet gambling.

Manhattan US attorney Preet Bharara said Zuriff operated an illegal gambling enterprise in Los Angeles and helped to run one in New York. Zuriff will be sentenced in November and may face up to five years in prison, having already agreed to forfeit $500,000.
