Zimpler, the i-gaming mobile payment service provider, has announced an upgrade to its existing payments licence.

The Swedish FCA, Finansinspektionen, has granted the company a licence as a payment institution. This enables the company to establish a physical presence and offer cross-border payment services within the European Economic Area.

“This licence enables us to proceed with our expansion plans within the EU,” said Kristofer Ekman Sinclair, chief executive officer and co-founder of Zimpler. “We will also be able to add support for withdrawals with the new licence, and it is also a testament to the quality of our company where we now join the ranks of the few selected companies in Sweden that have this licence.”

Zimpler launched its new mobile payment service last year with the main purpose of simplifying mobile payments while giving users control over their total spending.
