The US Supreme Court has ruled, by five votes to four, that states have the right to collect sales taxes on internet companies that don't have an in-state physical presence.
America’s Retail Industry Leaders Association said the court's decision "would give every retailer the opportunity to compete on a level playing field without government's thumb on the scale."
Shares of internet retail giant Amazon dropped around 1% following the ruling.
