The conference will ultimately set out guidelines on how new legislation can be written and introduced to meet international standards.

The Ministry of Justice's first deputy minister, Natalia Sevostianova (pictured), will open the second day of the conference with an outline of the legislative prerequisites to legalising and bringing gambling back to Ukraine.

Sevostianova said: “Bringing gambling back to Ukraine will only make sense once a firm legislative foundation has been laid. Such legislation has to be prepared in accordance with the best international practices, while taking into account unique circumstances of the gaming industry in Ukraine. The Ministry of Justice is happy to contribute to such a pivotal event and listen to the combined voice of experts from the gambling community.”
