Sweden will not tighten up its rules on gambling advertising, the country’s parliamentary committee on culture has decided.

The proposal would have seen stricter conditions imposed on high-risk gambling, notably between 6am and 9pm, but the committee’s report on gambling reform has rejected it.

It disagreed with the idea because it instead suggested the implementation of different rules for different types of gambling or ‘classification’.

The committee also felt that the proposal would harm responsible operators who pay high taxes and offer strong player protection because they would not have had the chance to market more widely.

It also felt the legalised marketplace in Sweden was still too young to undergo changes.
