Shares in UK gambling companies have been hit following plans by MPs to slash maximum stakes in online slots to £2.

The share price of 888 dropped by 13.7 per cent and William Hill (12.7), GVC (10.5) and Gamesys (9.0) were also majorly impacted following the publishing of an all-party group on gambling harms’ interim report. Rank (2.9) and Flutter (3.4) were less impacted.

The group suggested a £2 limit in an effort to better protect gambling-related harm. The report said that igaming poses a high risk due to the lack of stakes, prize or deposit limits and recommended a limit at the same level as for FOBTs and a ban on the use of credit cards.
