Paul Walker, non-executive chairman of Perform, said: "On behalf of the board I would like to thank David Surtees for his significant contribution over the last six years. David joined shortly after the formation of the group and has helped to grow and build the business."

Surtees' departure comes after Perform recieved a warning on December 12 that its full year profits would be "significantly" below expectations. The unscheduled update caused its shares to fall from 427p to 180p in a day, equivalent to £650m in market capitalisation.
