Following its approval to certify i-gaming systems for the Spanish National Gambling Commission, NMi has received approval from the autonomous region of Madrid to test and approve all types of online games, including slots.

"With 53 national operator licences having been issued, Madrid is proving an attractive proposition to those operators with a strong focus on reel based games who have not been able to offer them under the national licence," said Giles Bones, NMi gaming manager for Spain. "The value of a Madrid licence is that national licensees can gain a foothold with the slot playing public by offering the full range of games available nationally, plus slots, to the substantial proportion of players residing in the autonomous region of Madrid." The issue of this licence for Madrid strengthens NMi’s commitment to the Spanish market, where it is both accredited by the Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego to test and approve all i-gaming systems and game types for national licences, and in most autonomous regions where NMi is also accredited for regional testing and approvals. Online gaming companies do not need to have a prior national licence in order to apply for a regional licence, although the scope of the licence will be limited to players who are residents in the autonomous region of Madrid. NMi received accreditation in Denmark earlier this year.
