It has been reported that Congressman Chris Gibson has introduced legislation to clarify that online wagering on horse racing remains legal in the US.
Financial institutions such as the Department of Treasury and Federal Reserve recently implemented rules to crack down on illegal online gambling but have inadvertently created confusion regarding the validity of credit card transactions for legitimate internet-based wagers on horse racing.
The new legislation comes amid calls by two prominent US Senators on the Department of Justice to clarify the matter and has been referred to the House Judiciary Committee.
