The Dutch Gambling Authority has warned a gambling operator it says is unlicensed to cease operations in the market or face a fine of up to €840,000.

The Netherlands’ regulator, Kansspelautoriteit, has said Sarah Eternal, which runs the Casino Sky brand, does not have the required licence to operate in the regulated market.

The KSA has said that CasinoSky and Sarah Eternal, a gambling company based in Costa Rica, must stop the violation or face a fine of €240,000 per week up to a maximum of €840,000.

The regulator said inspectors could create an account at Casino Sky, make an account, deposit funds and participate in games of chance with the provider.

“Providers who do not have a licence for the Dutch market must do everything they can to ensure that Dutch players cannot come to them to gamble, for example by setting up an IP block,” the KSA said.

It added that setting up an account and playing casino games on Casino Sky was “also possible if the account clearly stated that the player was from the Netherlands,” hence its order subject to penalty.

“The Netherlands has a regulated gaming market to better protect players,” it said. “The KSA therefore takes tough action against illegal offers. Illegal supply is often quickly stopped with an order subject to a penalty.”
