Merkur Bets and Tipwin have agreed on a comprehensive co-operation between their sports betting shops in Germany.

The Merkur Group's sports betting brand Merkur Bets will take over Tipwin's product range in its sports betting shops as a franchisee.

As a result, the entire network of Merkur Bets sports betting shops will operate under the "Merkur Bets powered by Tipwin" brand. The complete integration of all Merkur Bets locations is planned for the fourth quarter of this year.

Through the merger, Merkur Bets not only maintains its presence in the brick-and-mortar sector, but also sharpens its focus on the online market, thus strengthening the further development of its own online product.

Two important appointments underline this: with Christian Gruber as the new chief operating officer and Thomas Andreas as the new marketing director, two proven experts with extensive online expertise are now working for the company.

Mathias Dahms, managing director of sports betting at Merkur Group, said: "With the strategic co-operation with Tipwin, we are securing our retail presence in the German market and can focus our future on growth in the European online business.

"Thanks to a strong online product consisting of a diverse range of sports betting options and attractive slots, the backing of an internationally operating group and the appeal of the established Merkur brand, we see ourselves as excellently positioned to drive our growth sustainably."

Dr Damir Böhm, CEO of Tipwin, said: "Merkur Bets powered by Tipwin' is a winning combination for all involved: a well-known and strong brand and a high-quality product.

"We are also combining the power of a group that sets standards across Europe with the dynamism of our family business. I am therefore looking forward to this strategic alliance, which we see as a promise for the future to our mutual partners."
