An overall record for igaming contributions in Pennsylvania helped the US state top $500m in revenue for the first time since gambling was legalised there in 2006.

Online casino revenue in March was $148.2m, an increase of 25.46 per cent on March 2022’s $118.1m. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board noted that was a record, along with record revenues for slots and table games.

The figures contributed to overall revenue of $515.3m, the first time the state’s revenue figure has gone past half a billion dollars since legalised gambling began in 2006.

Elsewhere, total sports betting handle showed a 1.2 per cent year-on-year rise to $723.5m. Taxable revenue for sports betting was $50.6m, 66.59 per cent higher than a year ago.

The combined revenue in Pennsylvania topped December’s recent record of $475m.

As for the contributions from land-based casinsos, slot machine revenue was up 4.98 per cent year-on-year, but table games revenue decreased 8.91 per cent over the same period.
