The row between the UK and Spain over Gibraltar may spill over into the i-gaming industry.

Spain is currently escalating the diplomatic argument over Gibraltar - which it wants back after 300 years and despite 99 per cent of the population of the Rock rejecting any thought of becoming Spanish - with a number of threats.
The border between Spain and the Rock has become a nightmare for those crossing, with Spanish border guards holding up passage by up to eight hours. Spain is also threatening to impose a departure/arrival tax on anyone crossing the border of 50 euros. For our industry the row has manifested itself in a threat by Spain to require Gibraltar-based online gambling companies to use Spanish-based servers and pay taxes to Madrid. The threat comes from the Spanish Foreign Minister, José Garcia-Margallo.
