The German gambling regulator has held a detailed meeting with the addiction and drug commissioner from Germany’s federal government, stepping up its efforts to tackle the illegal gaming market.

The GGL handed over its new player protection brochure which explains in detail Germany’s player protection measures set out in the State Treaty on Gambling 2021.
The GGL said it presented approaches and successes in combating illegal gaming in the meeting with the federal commissioner but also identified current regulatory challenges such as data collection.
GGL board member Ronald Benter said: “The central task of the GGL is not only monitoring compliance with the strict player protection measures, but also education and information for consumers.”
Fellow board member Benjamin Schwanke added: “We also agree that the telephone advice centre of the Federal Centre for Health Education should continue to be available to people with gambling problems as an important component in the prevention of gambling addiction. We are currently working intensively on this.”
