There is a well-worn cliché about certain topics needing no introduction, but even that is an introduction of sorts.

In the world of i-gaming there is a handful of giant brands whose fortunes can reflect those of an entire industry, such is their size and lack of the need of an introduction. If Microgaming is a barometer for the online gaming business, then business is booming.

Mike Hebden joined Microgaming after two decades with a large Irish bank, a role that saw him move to the Isle of Man in 1993. Now head of casino, Hebden joined the Isle of Man-based software developer in 2005. Into a new year, his enthusiasm for both Microgaming and the island he calls home appears undiminished. Certainly the to-do list at Microgaming is impressive enough.

The move to mobile, new titles, big licensing deals, yet more new titles and the forthcoming ICE Totally Gaming 2013 show are all high on the agenda when iNTERGAMINGi catches up with Hebden on a chilly winter morning, and he’s at his most animated when discussing Microgaming’s latest licensed blockbuster title, Battlestar Galactica.
