LeoVegas has had its igaming licence in Sweden extended from two years to five, after successfully appealing the original decision.

Having become one of the first companies to gain licence approval following the re-regulation of the Swedish market at the start of this year, LeoVegas was only handed a licence for two years.

The extension, according to group CEO Gustaf Hagman, means that the correct decision has been arrived at.

He said: “It feels great and right that we got our licence extended to five years. Following our efforts within compliance and experience from other regulated markets, the decision from the Administrative Court is an affirmation that we conduct a professional and responsible operation.

“The extended licence gives us confidence in the Swedish licensing system and the Swedish market where we continue to take market shares. We see that several smaller players have already left the Swedish market and at the same time marketing has declined since the turn of the year.”
