Colombia’s gambling regulator has warned operator 1Win to call off a promotional event it has planned for Friday after ruling that the brand is not authorised in the Latin American country.

The president of Coljuegos, Marco Emilio Hincapié, said the regulator has received information that 1Win plans to hold a promotional event in the city of Medellín, which will be attended by influencers and marketing professionals to publicise the operator’s player acquisition strategy.

The regulator said the operator and its owner could be placed in a sanctioning process for up to 300 current legal monthly minimum wages if the event goes ahead.

It said the operator does not have a current concession contract and is therefore not accredited.

Hincapié said that “neither the event nor 1Win are authorised by our entity and, for this reason,  those who advertise on this portal are incurring an offence that could lead to economic sanctions of up to 100 current legal monthly minimum wages.”

In a recent press release, 1Win Partners, the operator’s affiliate arm, said its Viva 1win Partners event on May 10 will feature influencers and content creators from across LatAm.

It is proposed to take place the Colosal Restaurant in Medellín at 6pm local time.

“At Coljuegos, we continue to fight against gambling that, in addition to being illegal, stops transferring resources for the health of Colombians,” Hincapié said

“For this reason, to date, we have issued 15,120 blocking orders to unauthorised online gaming portals.

“We invite all bettors to recognise which are the 15 portals authorized by Coljuegos. In this way,  they will avoid losing their money on websites that are not regulated and that operate illegally.”
