There have been some important recent changes to increase transparency of the ownership and control of all UK gaming companies. Gemma Boore of Bates Wells Braithwaite considers the likely impact.

ON April 6, the Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Act 2015 was implemented in the UK, which will impact all unlisted gaming companies incorporated in the UK.

In particular, the Act introduces a new requirement for all companies (subject to limited exceptions) to keep a new statutory register: the Register of People with Significant Control, known as the PSC Register. All UK companies will now be required to maintain a PSC Register, unless they are admitted to trading on the London Stock Exchange and other prescribed markets including AIM and ISDX, or companies with voting shares admitted to trading on other regulated markets in the EEA or specified non-EEA markets.
