US homeland security has seized the domain name Bodog.com.

Bodog

Department of Homeland Security agents in Baltimore, Maryland, received a court order to seize the domain name and the news was first announced on Bodog founder Calvin Ayre’s website last night.

The site now displays the Department of Justice badge and states that the domain name has been seized by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement – Homeland Security Investigations in accordance with a warrant obtained with the assistance of the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland.

The company has stated that the domain is not currently in use by any brand licensee and hasn’t been since the Morris Mohawk Gaming Group switched its operations to Bodog.eu in May 2011. Bodog UK, Europe and Asia have never taken bets from the US.

The BodogBrand site revoked its licensing agreement with Morris Mohawk Gaming Group on December 15, 2011, after publicly stating it would do so in July 2011.

The company is currently consulting with its legal advisors with a view to having the domain returned.
