Bill 2,234/2022 has already been approved by the Chamber of Deputies.

As reported by Senado Notícias, the bill would allow for one casino in each state except for a handful of states.

São Paulo would be allowed three casinos and Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Amazonas and Pará would be allowed up to two casinos each based on territory/population.

Riverboat casinos would also be allowed based on certain parameters.

The bill would also facilitate the exploitation of bingo. Each municipality would be able to host one bingo hall, with larger cities allowed one bingo hall per 150,000 inhabitants, Senado Notícias said.

Jogo do Bicho and horse racing would also be allowed under the legislation.

There were hopes that a vote would have taken place at the end of 2024, but some senators wanted the bill to go through more rounds of discussions.
