There were renewed hopes that there would be a vote on the land-based bill after it was put on the Senate Plenary agenda this week.

However, Senate president Rodrigo Pacheco said the bill needs input from the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance and Family and Fight Against Hunger.

Senado Noticias reports that while some senators wanted votes on the bill to be cast as a priority in Wednesday’s session, those who wanted the bill to go through more rounds of discussions got their way.

Due to the upcoming recess, the bill must now find a place on the Senate’s agenda in 2025.
