The Thai government is reportedly set to add further delay to hopes of progress in the country’s casino-entertainment complex bill due to rising political instability.

As reported by the Bangkok Post, Thailand’s coalition has weakened after the Bhumjaithai Party withdrew their support.

What’s more, prime minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra is facing allegations of ethical misconduct.

Shinawatra is also under pressure after the leak of a phone call she held with former Cambodian leader Hun Sen, in which she hit out against the Thai army’s conduct in the border tensions with the country.

The Bangkok Post said that a motion to withdraw the bill from the current parliamentary session will come into effect on Wednesday.

“We’re not pulling it out of fear or anything,” government whip Visuth Chainaroon said.

“We’d just like to communicate with the people first on the issue and clear any lingering doubts.”
