Amendments to Armenia law regarding the advertising of online gambling has passed a first reading in the country’s National Assembly.

Vakhtang Mirumyan, deputy finance minister, said the amendments would prohibit the advertising of online games with prizes on television and radio and also seek to improve control mechanisms.

“In particular, it is planned to restrict gambling commercials… and to create equal market conditions for all companies doing such business, since it is prohibited now to advertise gambling in casinos,” he said.

The amendments also intend to make the licensing process for internet games more complicated.
