Switzerland and the US have each received around $25m in forfeits after bank accounts holding funds of BetOnSports, which ceased operations in 2006, were unfrozen.

The Swiss Justice Ministry said the assets have been divided up following an agreement reached in 2009 when BetOnSports executives faced racketeering and other charges in the US.

Having received approximately $50m, the US Treasury last week gave half to the Swiss government for its cooperation, making it one of Switzerland's biggest asset-sharing cases.
