Online gaming software provider Viaden Gaming, has launched a new Texas Hold'em app for the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch.

The app is designed to take advantage of the rocketing trend for social-network focused games and as such, lets players log in using Facebook or Game Center account.

Viaden’s Texas Hold’em requires a wi-fi connection for multiplayer action and allows up to eight poker aficionados from anywhere in the world to compete at the same table. It boasts a cross-platform design, which means users can play friends regardless of their Apple device choice.

Viaden Gaming UK spokesperson Heather Baker commented: "This new Texas Hold’em game has already been downloaded over 250,000 times and as a free app designed for the rising wave of social gamers somewhat juxtaposes the current PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker and UB/Absolute Poker domain scandal.

"Viaden Gaming believes the future of online gambling will be less cash-return focused and will instead be shaped by trends in social networking. The company is therefore tailoring its games to suit this rapidly expanding market with in-built chat, messaging and search features, as well as six different language translations, all designed to encourage the highest levels of online interaction."

Baker added: "Viaden is currently working on new versions of the app, which will incorporate enhanced tournament functionality and will be available in additional online and Facebook formats, allowing players to compete against each other regardless of their device’s operating system."
