With almost 50 exhibitors, EGR Live opened its doors on Tuesday - the first day back after a second long bank holiday weekend. But was this change of date to blame for a quieter feel to the two-day event?
Although the concept of two consecutive four-day weekends was met with much enthusiasm outside of work, speaking to iNTERGAMINGi, many of the exhibitors at EGR Live were in agreement that holding the show on the first day back after such a long break was a mistake.
This year also saw the event held in a new venue. The Business Design Centre in Islington, London - elected over its predecessor Old Billingsgate - gave the event even more of a sparse feel to it.
Held on Tuesday evening at Chelsea Football Club, the EGR B2B awards saw OpenBet win Sports Betting Supplier of the Year for the second successive year, as well as Microgaming scoop the awards for Poker Network of the Year and Innovation in Slot Provision. Speaking to iNTERGAMINGi on the second day of the show, head of casino at Microgaming Mike Hebden said: "The awards are recognition for all our hard work. We have a company ethos which is continuous innovation and the awards really prove that."
Hebden also went on to talk about the company’s new true 3D online game Sterling Silver, which is due to be released in June. He explained that there are two types of 3D - passive and active - and Sterling Silver uses active 3D, which is the more recent type and means that the 3D glasses adjust to the screen so players aren’t limited as to what device they can play on.
The head of casino was also looking forward to Microgaming’s Grand Slam of Slots II, which commences at the end of May and boasts the biggest ever jackpot of US$2.43m.
