Software publisher Swintt is taking players back to the ancient world with its new release, Treasures of Rome.
The game is a premium release which offers the chance to win up to 450x the original stake. With five reels and 30 fixed paylines in the base game, it also sports Roman nobles, harps and vase symbols, as well as a coliseum for the bonus-triggering scatter.
Reels two and four also feature diamonds which will fill up a diamond meter on the left of the board if they land in view during the base game. This will trigger one of three bonus features as well as a free respin.
Collecting three red diamonds means the reels will expand to double the number of rows, boosting the number of paylines from 30 to 75. Three purple diamonds will see wilds boosted by a 2x multiplier, and three green diamonds will add between five and 10 wilds to the reels.
The Mystery Diamond modifiers become even more prominent during Treasures of Rome’s main free spins feature, which is triggered whenever three or more coliseum scatter symbols appear anywhere on the reels. When this happens, players will be awarded between eight and 12 free spins, but now any diamonds that land will not only instantly trigger at least one bonus, but also award an additional spin.
As each symbol can still potentially award three coloured diamonds, it’s therefore much easier for players to enjoy their next respin with all three modifiers activated, creating potentially huge combination wins. Not only that, but the extra free spins that they receive can prolong the feature indefinitely, further increasing the chance of them walking off with the wealth of an empire at the end.
