Sportradar has appointed a Google artificial intelligence expert as its new chief AI officer in a newly created role.

Behshad Behzadi, who has been at Google since 2006, will also take on the role of chief technology officer alongside the newly created role leading Sportradar’s AI strategy.

Behzadi played a key role in Google’s first AI strategy as co-founder of Google Assistant, Google Lens, Google Smart Display and the Next Gen Assistant.

At Sportradar, he will be responsible for adopting AI to enhance the company’s product offerings and roadmap, to deliver hyper-personalised experiences for sports fans.

Behzadi said: “I am very excited to join an organisation that pushes the boundaries on technology and puts a premium on innovation.”

He most recently led Google Cloud’s Conversational AI and applied generative AI to help automate customer services for large enterprises.
