It was during a press conference held at Liga's headquarter in Porto that bwin announced a new sponsorship in Portugal.
bwin will be the name sponsor of the Portuguese League Cup - the future ‘bwin Cup’ - for the upcoming three seasons (2010/2011, 2011/2012 and 2012/2013). "A close cooperation between professional sports and online gaming industry leaders like bwin will also ensure the integrity of sports and entertainment for both consumers and athletes," said Manfred Bodner, bwin co-CEO.
Rights acquired by bwin include displaying its logo on the jerseys of all players participating in the Portuguese League Cup using the designation "Official Title Sponsor" and maintaining an extensive presence at the club’s stadiums. The agreement also covers media co-operations, the integration of bwin into the Taça da Liga website and the launching of bwin Cup website.
bwin has previously co-operated with the Liga Portuguesa de Futebol Profissional. From 2005 to 2008, it had been the naming sponsor of the first division of the Portuguese Football League and remained as official partner since then.
