Gross gaming revenue in Denmark in February rose by 18.3 per cent year-on-year to DKK587m (£67.1m).

Up from last February’s DKK496m (£56.7m), online casino accounted for the biggest portion of GGR at DKK278m (£31.8m) – 47.3 per cent.

This was followed by betting, which generated DKK178m (£20.3m) – 30.3 per cent – of February’s GGR.

Gaming machines GGR for the month was DKK100m (£11.4m), 17 per cent of the total, with land-based casinos’ GGR at DKK32m (£3.7m) for the month, worth 5.4 per cent of the total.

The Danish Gambling Authority said there were in all four gambling categories, with spending on betting rising by 32.5 per cent.

The growth in betting “may be explained by a lower RTP in February 2024 compared to February 2023,” the regulator, Spillemyndigheden, said.

Compared with February 2023, online casino GGR rose by 18.5 per cent year-on-year from DKK234m (£26.7m), with gaming machines GGR climbing by 1.9 per cent – or DKK2m (£228,610).

Land-based casinos’ GGR also rose by DKK2m, an uplift of seven per cent.
