The incoming new chair of the Dutch gambling regulator will make his first speech in the role at iGB L!VE this summer.

Michel Groothuizen KSA

Michel Groothuizen is taking over from René Jansen at Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) from July 1 and will take to the Pulse Stage at RAI Amsterdam on July 17.

Clarion Gaming, organisers of iGB L!VE, said: “An extremely experienced political and governmental operator his career has come full circle since founding the KSA in 2012 while serving as policy director in the ministry of justice and security.

“He takes charge at a busy time for the Dutch regulator which has been criticised by some in the industry for being ‘heavy-handed’ and ‘unapproachable.’

“Having committed himself to what he has described as the ‘wonderful challenge’ of ensuring safer gambling, iGB L!VE attendees will be the first to learn how the KSA will address those challenges under his leadership.”

Portfolio director Naomi Barton said the Pulse feature at this year’s iGB L!VE will deliver insights and content around the four core themes of Markets and Convergence, Player Engagement, Building for the Future and Protecting Your Business.

The event is being hosted in Amsterdam for its final time before its move to London’s ExCeL.
