The New Jersey Senate has approved a bill allowing mobile casino gaming on the grounds of Atlantic City casinos, it has been reported.

The bill, which was sponsored by Senator Jim Whelan, the chairman of the Senate State Government, Wagering, Tourism and Historic Preservation Committee, had its structure approved by the Senate this week by a vote of 34-0.

A number of changes to the casino regulatory structure have been proposed, such as authorising casinos to provide electronic versions of approved games to be played on mobile devices in areas like a casino's outdoor swimming pool, recreation areas, or in lounges or hotel rooms.

Devices would only be able to work within the casino grounds and a mobile betting account would need to be established with the casino so all bets are paid on the property.
