Sky Bet was up 56 per cent to £117m while Sky Gaming climbed 20 per cent, also to £117m. The company’s Oddschecker business contributed £13m to the total, up 30 per cent on the previous year.

Growth in mobile was key to the improved performance with 80 per cent of Sky Bet revenue attributed to income from on-the-go channels. Mobile accounted for 57 per cent of revenue for the Sky Casino and Sky Vegas platforms.

Commenting on what he called “accelerated growth,” Sky Betting and Gaming CEO Richard Flint, said in a statement: “As an independent company that has a strong relationship with [broadcaster] Sky, we have continued to benefit from our Sky branding and links.

“During the year, we invested in both our technology and mobile platforms from our base in Yorkshire and this has helped drive our strong performance.

“We will maintain our focus on these two key areas in 2016 while also growing our team,” he said.
