PointsBet’s acquisition by Mixi has moved forward after the deal gained regulatory approval in Canada.

PointsBet, which operates a challenger brand in Canada alongside its flagship Australian platform, said that both the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) and its subsidiary, iGaming Ontario (iGO), have both cleared the move to go ahead.
Mixi’s takeover remains subject to a 50.1 per cent minimum acceptance of its proposed offer.
However, the deal is no longer subject to any gaming regulatory approvals.
Betr Entertainment remains in the hunt to oust Japanese company Mixi in the race for PointsBet.
Last week, an error in the counting saw Betr’s vote on Mixi’s scheme of arrangement takeover offer wrongly excluded – with the motion defeated having originally passed.
However, alongside its scheme of arrangement, Mixi has agreed an off-market takeover offer with PointsBet.
Betr has insisted it will come up with a revised offer to challenge Mixi’s.
