Microgaming has signed a licensing agreement with NBCUniversal to create online video slot games based on the successful SyFy television series Battlestar Galactica.

Eight years after the Emmy-winning show first aired on the SyFy channel, Microgaming is creating games based on the story of a planet under siege, with the new titles set for release later this year.

Microgaming CEO Roger Raatgever said: “We know we will do the Battlestar Galactica brand justice and that we will not only please our own base of players but exceed the expectations of the show’s fans. We plan to use our market leading software and years of expertise in the gaming industry to ensure that our video game slot will match the success of the show.”

NBCUniversal Television’s Christopher Lucero said the games would create an exciting brand extension for fans and gamers around the world.

“We’re confident that Microgaming can capture all of the action of BSG with the real-life exhilaration of online gaming,” he added.
