North Carolina could launch regulated mobile sports betting in time for the March Madness events, according to reports.

The US state opened applications for licences at the start of December, with mid-June the legal cut-off date for regulated wagering to have been set up.
The regulations will not be up and running in time for the NFL Super Bowl at the start of February, but according to Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper, the aim is to “get it out there before March Madness,” as stated in a Ovies and Giglio radio interview via Yogonet.
“No guarantee that that’s the case, but I think that is the goal,” Gov. Cooper added.
Speaking to WRAL, North Carolina State Lottery Commission spokesperson said: “North Carolinians love basketball season and are looking forward to betting to the chance to bet on their favourite teams and players.
“With all the progress that has been made, the Commission expects to be in a position soon to announce when sports betting can begin in North Carolina."
In mid-December, the Commission approved the second set of sports wagering rules.
Ahead of Christmas, it invited independent testing laboratories to set up shop in the state.
