New Jersey state senator Ray Lesniak has criticised governor Chris Christie’s delay in signing the online gaming bill which gained state assembly approval in December, amid suggestions that Christie may veto the legislation.

Ahead of the February 4 deadline to approve or veto the bill, Christie (pictured), a Republican, said in an interview for a New Jersey radio station that he was concerned online gaming could result in job losses at Atlantic City casinos and a further decline of the resort.

In response to the governor’s comments, Lesniak – a Democrat and lead sponsor of the bill – called Christie “clueless”, adding that Atlantic City casinos would use i-gaming to help rebuild their brands and increase revenue.
