The only organised online gaming state in Germany is Schleswig-Holstein.
Its licence issued to World of Sportsbetting Ltd (Malta) has now been acquired by LeoVegas AB, a subsidiary of Leo Vegas International that has acquired the Maltese company.
There is also an approved application in place for a sports betting licence in another German state, Hesse.
The deal is expected to be completed this month and LeoVegas also signed an agreement with football star Lothar Matthåus and the German handball player Stefan Kretzschmar as ambassadors in the German market.
