Ladbrokes has today announced that it has terminated discussions with 888 Holdings over a possible takeover.
The bookmaker announced in December 2010 that it was in very preliminary discussions with 888 Holdings regarding a possible offer for 888, but talks ended after the two companies reportedly failed to agree on a price.
While Ladbrokes has announced that its net revenue rose by 2.3 per cent in the first quarter, CEO Richard Glynn is reported to have stated that buying 888 "was not in the interests of shareholders."
The announcement comes just days after CEO Gigi Levy said he was leaving 888 to pursue his own interests.
