The Dutch gambling regulator has warned of a penalty for a company it says is operating illegally if it does not cease its activity.

Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) said Chestoption Sociedad de Responsibilidad Limitada is running the Vave, Vave Luck and 65Avev55 brands in the Netherlands without a licence.

The KSA said a penalty payment of €280,000 per week, up to a maximum of €840,000, will be imposed if the company does not withdraw from the Dutch market.

“The Netherlands has a regulated gambling market to better protect players,” a KSA statement said.

“For this reason, the KSA takes tough action against illegal providers. With an order subject to penalty payments, illegal supply can often be terminated quickly. Providers also risk a fine for the period in which the illegal supply was available.”

The regulator said that upon investigating Chestoption Sociedad de Responsibilidad Limitada, it was able to create a player account, make deposits and spend on games or bets.

“At that time, no technical measures were taken to block players from the Netherlands,” it said.
