In partnership with Unione Rugby Capitolina, a rugby club based in Rome, Italy, Sportradar and Lottomatica have held a training, education and prevention workshop about the risks and the dangers of sports fraud, aimed at athletes.

The project reinforces awareness of the risks and dangers linked to fraud within sport. URC chairman, Giorgio Vaccaro, said: “With this new project, URC is continuing to educate its young athletes.
"Competitive education also means making the athletes understand that raising their own limits to obtain the maximum individual performance starts when they are children and continues after adulthood; it is a never-ending path."
The project has received support from Christian Panucci, assistant coach of the Russian football team, and Giovanbattista Venditti, the Italian international rugby winger, both of whom have carried out meetings with the club’s under-18 rugby players.
“The match-fixing initiative completes our internal training path and will involve not only the young, but also the managers and directors,” added Vaccaro.
The training course has been carried out by Sportradar. “Match-fixing has become a global problem which is rapidly expanding; nobody can feel immune from it and it represents a serious threat to many sports,” said Marcello Presilla, international integrity manager for Sportradar.
“We are particularly proud to extend our rugby portfolio and launch this initiative at the very heart of Italian rugby.”
